OMNi Compass GPS at CWID
Specialist Rafael Cantero demonstrates the OMNi to a VIP group attending the Joint Forces Command (JFCOM), Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID), 15 June 2011.
In this CWID exercise the OMNi is linked to the joint chemical agent detector (JCAD) and is being used to transmit warning messages via civilian and military radio networks simultaneously. The bridging capabilities of the OMNi allow the user to collect standoff sensor data and geo-tag the location coordinates with audio, video, still, infrared, text, and real-time weather feeds.
The ability to collect and disseminate these reports instantaneously via Google Earth allows for safer operations and the sharing of precise, geo-referenced intelligence among the stakeholders. The OMNi technology captures a complete “picture” and facilitates a better understanding of dynamic situations. These reachback capabilities allow the joint agencies to rapidly coordinate response efforts and proactively mitigate situations while still in the field.
