Problem
How to effectively survey the shoreline for damage
Solution
Compass Systems Inc was tasked by the US Army Corp of Engineers to survey the damage along the shoreline following the devastating tsunami. The Operational Mapping and Networked Intelligence (OMNi) was deployed to perform the difficult task. There were several areas that had simply been washed away. By using the OMNi, Compass Systems and Army Corp of Engineer personnel were able to fully document the destruction. Using high definition imagery, audio clips and video, there was a comprehensive data collection performed to show the magnitude of the event. With the use of Google Earth™ to compare street view imagery with the collected data, there was an extremely accurate depiction of how the tsunami impacted the areas surveyed.
