Field Deployable Camera System Case Study

Problem – Illicit trafficking of drugs/contraband across borders in South America. The mode of transportation was high speed watercraft.

Solution – Compass Systems was tasked to design and test an unmanned platform to provide both day and night capability to observe river crossings in a remote area in South America. Compass designed, procured and delivered a system which would provide stand alone surveillance which included thermal imaging.  The thermal imaging was useful to see the heat signatures from high speed watercraft attempting to smuggle contraband.

The system included a 40’ deployable mast, Hurley IR camera with pan and tilt capability, custom software to operate the camera and a complete wireless backbone to transmit the video feed to a command center. Compass also provided the components at the command center to remotely operate and collect video.
